Actually, I'm just updating this because I got sick of looking at that depressing as hell post about that little girl. XD Anyway, So I thought I'd just talk about recent happenings in my life.

Palutena, unfortunately, didn't get finished in time for VGL. ;o; So instead, I wore my Zelda II Princess Zelda, and was received rather well. Even old ladies liked my costume (Yeah, even old ladies were there. XD They were so cute and curious about video game music, and asking me all sorts of questions. XD Coolest old ladies, EVAR!). XD I'll elaborate on my time at VGL later this week, when I'm less sleepy. ^ ^; I'll also post some progress pics of my Palutena. I plan on finishing up the dress at the end of this week. Would've been last week, but I decided to take a break from her last week, since I'd been working on her 24/7 the week before, and was super exhausted. XD;

So, last week, I just focused on commissions, my sister's birthday gift, planning some new cosplays (I'm going to do a Makar to go with Katiu's Fado! xD), and a little fan art. Funny how Spring comes, and my brother's fanbase (he's a local DJ; thinking of trying to get him to play a convention sometime. He's really good!) comes out of the wood work to commission me for their rave costumes. XD Luckily, they're all rather easy, and don't have much to them. But I still wish he wouldn't tell them that I'm all into making costumes. Kinda distracts me from my own cosplays. ^ ^;; Although, the money's not too bad... Sorry, I'm so selfish. XD

Anyway, that's been my life recently. Look forward to a live report of VGL in SLC, and my Palutena progress pics! Talk to you all later! Good night!

So Yesterday, around 2pm, a seven-year-old Burmese girl went missing in South SLC. She was believed to have been kidnapped. Today, they found her, not far from her home, dead. >.< 5 men have been taken into custody. So happens that these 5 guys are also from Burma, and don't speak much English.

As you can see, I'm having a really hard time focusing on anything lately, so I'm going to try to go get some sewing patterns made, and hopefully have something to update with soon! >.< Bye!

So, this was so exciting for me, that I just had to post about it. ;D

So yesterday morning, I was checking my email after I woke up, and found that I had like 8 photo comments from cosplay.com. I was like "What???" Because I never get that kind of attention for my costumes like, ever. So I go to cosplay.com and realize that one of my Rainbow Brite photos had been showcased! ;DDD Needless to say, I was beyond excited! XDD And I got lots of comments from cosplayers I really admire. ^.^ Plus, after showing my sister (who aspires to become a photographer, and takes all of my pictures), she's been fully inspired to become a cosplay photographer! ^o^ After several months of me trying to convince her that she'd be very successful. ^.^ I really, really can't wait for her to get started! She's planning on starting after she graduates college this May. ^.^ So she'll probably do a free cosplay photo shoot for SLC cosplayers to see how she likes it! Take advantage! She's good! ^w^ And another fun thing: One of my Rainbow Brite pics have been posted on rainbowbrite.net! ;DD

Sorry, I was just really excited about that. ^o^ Woohoo~! ^w^

*Scroll to the bottom for progress pics!* ;D

Alright, so things ended up working out just fine, and I'm really happy I didn't go to the con this weekend because I got a lot done on my Palutena! I've been working on it for almost 24 hours straight. XD I just might post some progress pics soon. ;D Although, even though I've made a lot of progress, I've also messed up A LOT. XD What I have finished of the dress is currently hang drying, because I messed up with the stencils and had to do emergency stain removal. D: So, that's the reason why there's no progress pics right now. ^ ^; But as soon as it's dry and I've pressed it, I'll take some pics and post them. ^.^ I'm debating whether I should take a rest while I'm waiting for it to dry, or start work on the wig. XD; I really don't feel as tired as I should. ^ ^; Oh, I also forgot to mention, that about two weeks before the release of Brawl, I finally got some really great Palutena reference pics! Thanks to a really nice person on YouTube. ;D The sad part is that the moment I had a look at them, I realized that I had almost completely misunderstood her design. XD; So I had to almost completely start over on the dress. D: But I'm about back to where I was before, the last time I took a progress pic.  ^ ^; Which still kinda sucks.

In other news, I got a new sewing box! Thanks to my friend Masato for buying it for me. ^.^ It's so freakin' cute!! And it's much MUCH bigger than my old one. Here, have a look:

Old box:img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…
Notice how it wouldn't even shut, I had so much crap in there. XD Plus, the velcro on the latch is about to fall off. The only thing keeping it attached is a single thread. XD

New Box:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…
Okay, so it's not that much more organized, but as you can see here: img.photobucket.com/albums/v12… Everything and more fits in there! And the little designs on the outside of the box inspire me to work on my sewing projects more. XD Just the sight of dress forms and bustles makes me want to sew until forever! XD

Oh, and I was going to talk about my cosplay plans for this year, or what they currently consist of...yeah, anyway, so, as many of you may have guessed, I didn't go to Anime Oasis. Not because Palutena wasn't ready, but because when I was going to buy tickets back at the beginning of last month, I learned that they'd sold out in December. D: And they only had 8 tickets left, but they were the $200 lifetime tickets. And as much as I'd love to be able to go to Oasis for free every year for the rest of my young life, I didn't have $200 to spend on a single ticket, and still have to pay $90/night for a hotel room + food for four days. So I decided to scrap that, and just hit a convention in the Fall to make up for it. Which is probably going to be Dragon*Con, because every cool person and their mom is going, and I want to be cool and go, too. XD

I was originally planning on going to Sakura Con at the end of this month, but then I found out that Video Games Live is going to be in Utah on that same weekend. So I decided I'd go to VGL instead, because it'd be way cheaper, and they'll probably never come to SLC ever again. XD Plus, they have a costume contest! 8D And I totally want to enter it with my Palutena! So, it's of utmost importance that I finish her in time! ><! I only have two more weeks! XD;

And, sadly, due to my severe laziness and lack of motivation in recent days, I haven't worked on Zero Suit Samus in weeks. XD; So I decided, because I wanted to have three new costumes by ACEN, that I would just finish her in time for A-Kon. Which I know it's only one or two weeks after ACEN. XD; We'll see how all this works out...

I was also planning on hitting AX, but I heard all these really nasty rumors that it was going to be totally lame this year. But I talked to some people, and decided that if I can find enough people to go with, I'll go. =)

So, that's all the important stuff I can think of. I'm going to go figure out what I can do right now while I wait for that dang dress to dry. XD Bye!

EDIT: I promised Palutena progress pics, so here they are!
Here's the full dress so far: img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…
As compared to before I got my awesome ref pics:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…
So, the top skirt, I scrapped, because it needs to be bigger. I took the darts in the front in a bit more for better fitting, and added a panel to the skirt on the right side. I also cut a chunk off the front of the skirt because there was too much fabric there. Since I started working on it Friday night, I added the zipper, added the top trim, hemmed the raw edges of the skirt, and started the embroidery on the front of the dress. I know, for working on it for 24 hours straight (including meal time and bathroom time), it doesn't sound like a lot of progress. But you have to understand, that I messed up HORRIBLY at least 3 times during those 24 hours. So I guess most of that time was spent fixing my retarded mistakes. XD;

And This is what took me so long to post these pics: img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…
That's right, I hand embroidered that! XD And it took me nearly 7 hours to get just a quarter of the way finished. ^ ^; So, since it's been painfully slow at work lately, and I've been having an incredibly hard time resisting the urge to accept management's offers to send me home, I figure a good way to make some money this week is to just take this dress to work and work on the embroidery there. That way, I should have the embroidery finished by Tuesday or Wednesday. Luckily, this is the only hand embroidery I'll be doing for this costume. ^ ^;

So that's it so far. To be completely honest, this is seriously the hardest project I've ever attempted since I learned to work a sewing machine. ^ ^; But it really is a learning experience. Plus, I'm pretty sure after this costume is finished, all the other costumes I'm planning to make this year will be cake in comparison. XD; Anyway, I'm really happy with how it's looking so far, and hopefully I'll be making much, much more progress this week. I'm so happy to see that it's finally starting to look kinda like Palutena! So excited! ;D 'Kay, that's all!
So, I didn't want to post something like this in a public blog, but it seems out of all the blogs I have, this one is the best place for me to post this. And I just have to bitch. XD; So if you don't want to listen to me complain about stupid drama, you don't have to read. ^ ^ Right, so, the convention this weekend fell through, because I decided I didn't want to go with the people I was going with. Okay, so one kid was in charge of the whole trip, and the other kid, who is the only person I can get a hold of, said that I could tag along with them, and all I would have to pay for was food and anything I wanted to buy at the con. So then, the next day, he's all, oh, I don't know if you can go with us, we're talking to some other people, and if they can't go, then you can go. WTF! As if I'm some last resort! Plus, the kid in charge, we've been friends for a while, but we had a bit of a falling out sometime last year. Which I thought we'd maturely (for the most part) resolved and were all chummy again. Well, according to a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, this kid still holds a grudge against me for this! And really, all I did was tease him a little, but I guess it was in front of some customers in his shop, and he was really embarrassed. But it wasn't anything huge! It was just like "Oh, lol, you didn't learn any Japanese while you were in Japan?? That's pathetic, heehee. *joking tone*" I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think that's anything to be so worked up over that you're mad at someone for several months after, and continue to avoid them. Come on, my friends embarrass me all the time, but I don't -hate- them afterward... >.> Anyway, so according to unnamed source, apparently, it's surprising that he would let me tag along at all, since we "weren't friends anymore", which I also think is another exaggeration on another person's part, who shall also remain nameless. Ugh, so, I've decided not only am I not going to go to the con with them, but I'm just not going to associate with them anymore. >.< And not only is that kid being a total jerk, but he's also apparently gotten into some drugs... (you know, pot...) and has become a total emo recluse, so it's not like I'm going to want to be around him anymore, anyway.... To be honest, I don't really want to hang out with my friends from 'that group' anymore, simply because this shit always happens, and I'm completely fed up. I'm tired of the he said/she said bullshit. It's like being in junior high all over again, and back then, I was smart enough to avoid people like that. So, I figure I should do the same now. So, from now on, it's just video game geeks, cosplayers, or both. Because they act so much more mature. No, really. ;A; So, if no one got this far in reading this post, I'm not offended. I just needed to vent. ^ ^; And if you did, then you're sweet. ^.^ ♥

Anyway, I'm going to go to bed, and try to focus again on the important thing at hand, my Palutena costume! Which reminds me, my cosplay plans have changed. Maybe I'll make a post about that later. And I promise I will put up some more art soon, dang it! I'm just slowly, but surely, getting everything colored. XD; This is why I don't normally color my drawings. Because it takes like 4 hours per drawing. XD; And that conflicts pretty bad with work, friends, travel time, and costume time. Heh, anyway, night!

Thought I'd come by and just ramble about what's currently going on in my life.

I've been losing things like crazy lately. D: I lost my seam ripper, the zipper I bought for the costume I'm currently working on, and I almost lost all my favorite rings in a public restroom yesterday. XD;; And I've lost something else very dear to me, but I don't want to mention what it was, because if I do, someone reading this might want to kill me. ^ ^; And if not, I will kill myself after reading it several times. XD;;

I've gotten over the loss of my old seam ripper, and bought a new, better one. So I'm glad that worked out. I also bought a new zipper for my costume. Speaking of costumes, I don't really ever talk much about my cosplay plans. XD So I'm going to talk a little bit about them now.

The costume I'm currently working on is Palutena from Super Smash Brothers Brawl/ Kid Icarus. Her dress is nearing completion. I just need to add the gold trim to the toga-looking part, put in the zipper, add the trim to the top of the dress, and hem the edges of the underskirt. Unfortunately, that's as far as I can get before either a) the game comes out, or b) My friends in Japan send me some better reference pics of the details on her dress, since the only pictures available of her are too small or too grainy. D: I'm hoping to get it done by Anime Oasis, and I figure if I work on it a little everyday, it'll for sure get done in time. ^ ^

The other costume I'm working on is Zero Suit Samus, also from Brawl/Metroid Prime II.  I've completed the patterns and all that, but I was really depressed to see that when I got to the fabric store, the color that closest resembled the color of the Zero Suit was too dark. D: BUT!! When I got home that night, I was going through my scrap fabric, and found two yards of this fabric that I bought seriously like 3 years ago, and it's PERFECT!! So I'm quite happy that I didn't settle and pay $20 for the darker color.

As for the fanart I was talking about a few posts ago, I've been working on it, and as soon as they're all colored, I'm going to post ALL OF IT, and it will make your heads explode with candy! XD So, yeah. Look forward to it. ^ ^

And that mostly sums up everything for the moment, except for my job, which sucks as much as ever, so no news there. XD Anyway,  I gotta go now, so bai! ;D

Hey, This isn't very important or anything, but I learned something really funny today!

So, I live in Salt Lake City, where the area code is 801. And in Japanese, the kazuateji (words written in numbers) for yaoi is 801! Get it?? 8 is yatsu in old japanese, so it's ya, 0 is sometimes pronounced like "o" in English, so that's o, and 1 in modern Japanese is ichi, so that's i! XD And I learned this from a Japanese person, so it's legit! I live in Yaoi city!! XDD Haha, take that, LDS church! XD

And all you Yaoi fangirls in Salt Lake, NOW YOU KNOW WHY! 8DDD

Hey! Long time no update. This has been a somewhat eventful past month or so. Here are the highlights:

img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…

Yes, I love it! I'm learning several songs out of it at once! I've pretty much mastered Zelda's Theme, and I'm even learning it on the harp. I spent like, an hour practicing it on harp at Summerhays Music Center (Yep, still too broke to buy a harp. ^ ^; ). There are so many pedal changes in that piece that I had to quit early because my legs were getting sore. XD;; I'm also learning the fairy fountain song. It's actually WAY easier to play on the harp, because the strings are closer together than keys on a piano. Besides, it was meant to be played on harp. ^ ^ Such a pretty piece...

And the ultimate highlight is... TADAH!

img.photobucket.com/albums/v12…

Isn't it beautiful??? T_T ♥ ♥ ♥ I love you, Triforce Nintendo DS! You can't even imagine what a happy Zelda geek I am at the moment. XDD It also came with Phantom Hourglass, which means I now have this game in both Japanese and English. XD Way good! Although, I do have a few qualms about the name changes... Like how they changed Lineback's name to Linebeck, and Fortune to Astrid. 'Kay guys, there's no harm in keeping the names the same, you know. But regardless, I'm still very pleased. ^.^

I've been thinking lately, about how when I was in junior high, I drew a lot of fanart of videogame characters and cartoon characters  I liked. I used to draw LttP Princess Zelda ALL THE TIME! I was thinking why don't I do that anymore? So, expect some fanart from me in the near future. ^ ^ And it's going to be colored! ;D I recently resurrected my watercolors, and am going to be doing a lot more painting. I'm way excited! Because I love watercolor! XD Anyway, It's time for bed. I've been up way too long today. So goodnight!

Best thing EVAR happened to me today!! XDDDD
My friend Masato met me at the school library and mentioned he had something cool to show me. He pulled an orange plastic bag out from his backpack. And out of the bag he pulls out a book and whistles the "Treasure Catch Fanfare" (the tone that plays when you find an item in the Legend of Zelda games). XD

The book he pulled out was the Legend of Zelda Piano Collection!!! ;o; Which includes the music from A Link to the Past all the way up to Wind Waker. T________________T He's giving it to me for Christmas. I about passed out. XD Plus, all the music is PRE-ANALYZED! T___T Thank you, Japan for saving me the trouble! ;D

The downside is he won't let me have it until after finals. >.< Because he knows I will do nothing but play the music rather than study for my final exams. XD Sucks because I can't stop thinking about it... ^ ^;;; All the more excitement for the semester to be over!

Pretty much since the beginning of this semester, I've been starving. ;__; So when I realized I had to work on Thanksgiving, I was pretty bummed. Starving even on Thanksgiving is just not right. >.< So, I was thankful today for the turkey that made all the deaf people go to bed early, and consequently made it so slow at work that I got off an hour early! ^.^ And I got to eat Thanksgiving dinner with all three of my siblings for the first time in like, 12 years.

First Thanksgiving that I felt thankful for something, actually. ^ ^;;;
