What Lies Beyond the Sea by akuriko What Lies Beyond the Sea by akuriko
This was definitely my favorite part of the shoot! Mind you, that water was FREEZING, but I got over it. XD; Getting in the water and feeling the sand between my toes made me really feel like Marin, as hilarious as that sounds. After this shoot, I felt closer to this character than ever before. Yes, this is why I cosplay. XD

So, amazing how much Lake Michigan looks like the ocean, isn't it? I was surprised when I first saw it. XD; I felt lucky that this is no more than a 5 minute drive from my apartment. XD Lucky, lucky~ (Fun Fact: There are actually people in Milwaukee that think Lake Michigan IS the ocean. The Michigan Ocean, to be exact. And they are completely serious. No joke.)

Beautiful shot! You really capture the essence of Marin. You should see how Lake Michigan looks from the Empire Bluffs in my gallery on the MI side. It has a Koholint Island feel to it.

Awww~! You are such a pretty Marin!

Marin's my favorite Zelda girl, and it's wonderful to see such a stunning tribute to the lady. You capture her look so well and you definitely have that wistful and "I'm-gonna-fly-away-and-sing-for-many-people" aura. Your suffering with wind, biting flies, seagirls, chatty girls, and freezing cold water was well spent - you look fantastic!

This takes me back. Link's Awakening was my first video game. I still have it, along with the original packaging and manual, tucked away into a keepsake box.

Jesus. This is pretty much how I pictured Marin on the beach way back in middle school. I was destroyed when I found out my whole journey in Koholint (my first Zelda game btw) was just a dream. I felt like I had lost one of my closest friends, and I never really had a chance to say bye, nor was I ready to. =( Then a year later I played it again all the way up to just before the end and stopped so I'd never have to say goodbye lol!

Anyways you were spot-on with the detail! Great work!

This is gorgeous! I absolutely love this shot. It feels like you are really there and really her. Which is very hard to pull off. Well done both of you!

P.S. Lake Michigan for the win! I love that lake. I was born and raised in MI and I have found memories going to the lake and swimming in that insanely cold water. When you're a kid, you don't care if you turn purple. XD I just watched a documentary yesterday about water called Blue Gold: World Water Wars and it was talking about how Nestle was booted out of Wisconsin because they started draining the lake. Very sad. :( Leave Lake MI alone!

Thank you!! :3 I really felt like Marin! It was awesome! XD;;

I love it too! It's definitely my favorite place in Milwaukee to visit (except during the Winter D:). Aw~ Sounds like some very fond memories! :3 Indeed, kids are so resilient! XD Wow, I had no idea Nestle tried to drain the lake. D: I wonder why they wanted to do that...? I'll have to check out that documentary!

Yeah, the Nestle thing was about them wanting to use the water to bottle and sell.

Lol, why in the world would they want to bottle that water? XD; I mean, I love that lake, but it is pretty polluted. I imagine that filtering can only do so much lol~

That's true. It's all about the money, they make such a huge profit off of bottled water.

Very beautiful. I like the emotion in this...the feeling of Marin enjoying the sea, wanting to go beyond. Was there any wind that day? *curious* Reminds me of that place where Link sees Marin on the beach!

Michigan Ocean? *laughs* Go to [link] to see more American geography misconceptions. And if you mention such places as Puerto Rico and American Samoa to some people (they are pieces of AMERICAN soil), they think "No way, there's only 50 states"

Thank you! Yes, there was so much wind that day. XD; I had a hard time keeping my wig tame. In this photo, I believe the wind is blowing against my back, but in this one [link] you can see just how windy it was! XD

Lol~ It's just sad how little attention people pay to geography. I guess it's not something you need in everyday life, but still... even basic knowledge about your own country...? XD; Seriously now.

Nice pic. And the wind added to the atmosphere. Yep, I saw the other picture, and liked it.

My favorites of those things are the person complaining about not getting an ocean view room in Orlando ("Florida is a thin state!") and the person who asked about taking a train to Hawai'i (in the movie Hot Shots, Part Deux, there was an Amtrak train that was going to Hawai'i as its last destination, "Last call for Train 590 for Glendale, San Fransisco and Honolulu") People also have misconceptions about Canada, where I live...especially Britney Spears, who called it "Overseas".....then again, she may have flown over the Michigan Ocean!
