Skyward Sword by akuriko Skyward Sword by akuriko
It was wonderful finally debuting a new costume at Acen. :3 It was the longest I stayed in costume in a long long time (9 hours)! XD Genia had the great idea of doing some shots in front of this lit up pillar, but it was behind the Hyatt front desk. Thankfully the workers were very kind to still allow us to shoot, though they passed through our shots from time to time haha. XD

Costume made and worn by me.

Hi there! I want to let you know that you're one of the best SS Zelda cosplayers I've seen!
I was wondering if you could help me.. Where did you get your wig? D:
It would be awesome if you could let me know, because I think yours looks the best.
Thank you so much!

Aw, Skyward Sword Zelda :3 I'm making this cosplay for Fanime this year, so it will be my second real cosplay ^w^ (not counting my eight-year-old Wind Waker Zelda lol). I really like this one, especially since Skyward Sword is the game I'm the most obsessed with at the moment xD I especially like the hair ribbons, they usually seem really hard to get perfect, but you managed it :) great job, as usual!

You're so pretty!! ^.^ Love the cosplay.

I you don't mind me asking, where did you get your wig at? I'm going to my first con next year as Skyward Sword Zelda and I need a wig.

Thank you~

Thank you! ^ ^ I purchased my wig as two wigs from ebay and sewed the wefts from one into the other for extra volume. I don't recall exactly which wig or shop I bought it from though. ^ ^;; Sorry!

That's okay, thank you for telling me! That's very creative by the way, haha I would not have thought of doing that! ^^ I have one more question though. (I'm sorry if I'm being pushy or annoying! ^.^;;;) Do you remember where you got your shoes and bracelets? I think I've looked everywhere and just cant seem to find them.

Actually I made my bracelets and bootcovers from scratch. ^ ^; I found the base shoes for my boots at a thrift store.

Oh and another thing, what kind of fabric did you use and what color for you Skyward Sword cosplay? And how do you paint on the yellow squares at the bottom of the dress, plus what paint to use to? So sorry for all these questions! >.<;

I used Italian wool for my dress, which I dyed fuchsia. I didn't paint the designs on though. I used a method called applique. Here's a tutorial for the basic method I used: [link]

Okay thanks! That helps a lot! ^.^ Umm is this the Italian wool by any chance..? I could only find it here, -->[link]

Sorry it's a really late reply, but the italian wool suiting I purchased was from Vogue Fabrics [link] I bought mine in-store in Evanston, IL though. I know they have italian wool online, but I know one kind is a different texture than the stuff I bought. I can't say for sure they have the stuff I used available in their online store.

Oh haha okay. ^.^; No wonder I couldn't find them anywhere! XD Oh well, do you by any chance have any tutorials that helped you make them?

I didn't follow any tutorials, but I can tell you how I made them. I just sculpted one bracelet out of sculpey around a cardboard spool (what the spools of ribbon come on. I found it to be a perfect size for my hand to fit through), this helped to make them perfectly round. then I sanded and glazed that bracelet, made a mold using OOMOO 25, and cast two bracelets using Smoothcast 327 resin tinted with white, yellow, and green resin dyes (purchased from smooth-on.com). After it cured, I painted the inside of the designs with a dark green acrylic paint and painted acrylic glaze over that. I hope that helps! ^ ^

^.^ Yes! That helps a lot, thank you very much! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Oh, but last thing, will you possibly be at Otakon 2013 from August 9-11? In Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Convention Center?

I will most likely not be attending Otakon this year unfortunately. ^ ^; I'm going to 3 expensive spring cons, and I'll likely not be able to afford it at that point.

May I ask how you mounted the gem onto the dress..?

Thank you :)

:iconakuriko:

Thanks! ^ ^ I glued the gem onto my dress using two-part epoxy adhesive (if you use this, be sure to put a sheet of cardstock between the fabric so it doesn't seep through and glue itself together. ^ ^; ).
